TRIBUTE TO THOMAS J. KLINEDINST, JR.
Tom Klinedinst was a founding member and served as the Board Chair for the St. Francis Seraph Ministries since it was established in 2011. The purpose of the SFS Ministries is to continue the community outreach programs sponsored by both the Franciscan Friars and the members of St. Francis Seraph Parish in over-the-Rhine.
Certainly through Tom’s capable leadership, vision and commitment to the Franciscan charism of serving the poor – St. Francis Seraph Ministries has grown and flourished. Annually the SFS Ministries serves over 50,000 clients in need through programs which nourish and nurture the urban poor. SFS Ministries programs include a Soup Kitchen, Bag Lunch Program, the Sarah Center and Cooking for the Family.
Most recently Tom was the heart and soul behind the plans for the new St. Anthony Center in partnership with the Franciscan Friars. This new facility repurposes the old St. Anthony Messenger building into a place where six local non-profit agencies will operate and provide basic services for those in need. The St. Anthony Center is a new, innovative model of collaboration among local non-profit organizations which continues the Franciscan legacy of hope and help in over-the-Rhine.
Tom was a man of deep faith and good will. He loved God, his family, his community and most especially the Franciscans. Tom’s contributions to the larger community during his lifetime are enormous as he truly cared for those who have no voice and those who struggle with the basic needs of food, clothing and shelter. Our world is a much brighter place because Tom Klinedinst lived life full of love and compassionate care for others.
